Graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Vigo in 2002 and PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the European University of Madrid in 2018. Ulloa Sande has worked in different engineering and manufacturing companies for almost 10 years. After that, he completed his PhD on thermal modelling of micro-CHP systems at the University of Vigo. That same year, Ulloa started his teaching role as Teaching Assistant in the Defense University Centre at the Spanish Naval Academy, where he taught Mechanical Engineering. He is currently a professor at the School of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Vigo, in the Area of ​​Aerospace Engineering.

PhD. Ulloa’s research career focuses on the research field of energy systems and modelling and dynamic simulation of energy and propulsion systems. He has published research papers regarding his thesis along with other members of his research group and he has participated in numerous national and international teaching and research conferences.

Carlos Ulloa is currently conducting research in the field of renewable energy applied to UAVs and their facilities, in collaboration with PhD. Cheng-Xian Lin, accomplishing different periods of Visiting Scholar internship in the Sustainable Energy and Thermal Transport Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Florida International University (Miami). He is now developing research activities in satellites thermal control systems, participating as researcher in WiPTherm, an European FET (Future and Emerging Technologies) project, modelling the thermal system of CubeSats in applications of power supply using innovative thermoelectric generators.

Titulado como ingeniero industrial en la Universidad de Vigo en 2002 y en Ingeniería Aeroespacial por la Universidad Europea de Madrid en 2018. El Dr. Ulloa Sande ha trabajado en diferentes empresas de ingeniería y fabricación durante casi 10 años. Tras ello, realizó su doctorado sobre el modelado térmico de sistemas micro-CHP, aplicado a diversos tipos de vehículos. Tras pasar un año como profesor invitado en el Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica en la Universidad de Vigo, el Dr. Ulloa inicia su labor docente como Ayudante Doctor en el Centro Universitario de Defensa de la Academia Naval Española, donde imparte la carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica. Actualmente es profesor Contratado Doctor de la Escuela de Ingeniería Aeroespacial en la Universidad de Vigo, en el Área de Ingeniería Aeroespacial. 

La carrera investigadora del Dr. Ulloa se centra en el campo de investigación de sistemas de energía, además de la realización de modelado y simulación dinámica de sistemas de propulsión y energía. Ha publicado trabajos de investigación sobre su tesis junto con otros miembros de su grupo de investigación y participado en numerosos congresos nacionales e internacionales de docencia e investigación.

Actualmente, el Dr. Ulloa se encuentra realizando una investigación en el campo de las energías renovables aplicadas a los UAV y sus instalaciones, en colaboración con el Dr. Cheng-Xian Lin, realizando diferentes períodos de prácticas de profesor visitante en el Laboratorio de Energía Sostenible y Transporte Térmico en el Departamento de Mecánica e Ingeniería de Materiales en la Florida International University (Miami). Además, también se encuentra desarrollando actividades de investigación en sistemas de control térmico de satélites, participando como investigador en WiPTherm, un proyecto europeo Future and Emerging Technologies (FET), modelando el sistema térmico de CubeSats en aplicaciones de suministro de energía utilizando innovadores generadores termoeléctricos.
